TotalFX is a revolutionary fractional treatment that combines all the benefits of DeepFX and ActiveFX in one treatment with minimal downtime. Fractional treatments treat only a fraction of the skin, leaving bridges of untouched skin that aid in the healing process and reduce healing times enabling you to return to normal activities quicker.

Cosmetic imperfections can appear on our skin at all stages of life and include wrinkles, scars, brown spots and more. To improve and remove these unwanted imperfections, TotalFX is your solution. By treating deep in the dermis, as well as the skin’s surface, TotalFX is your choice for total outcomes.

The FX lasers by Lumenis are the new gold standard CO2 laser skin tightening and resurfacing systems. They both offer immediate wrinkle reduction as the skin resurfacing technique induces collagen formation and tightening of the skin. You see immediate results — continuing for up to six months due to this new collagen formation. ActiveFX treats surface pigmentation and skin roughness. DeepFX treats wrinkles, skin roughness and also tightens. TotalFX is a combination of both ActiveFX and DeepFX and provides the most complete possibilities of fractional CO2 laser treatments.

  • Maximum results in a single treatment
  • Smoother tighter facial skin and contours
  • Deep wrinkle/scar improvement
  • Immediate skin tightening
  • Stimulates Collagen
  • Softening of smokers’ lines and vertical lip lines
  • Fading of skin discoloration

The TotalFX procedure is applied in two steps. First we will numb your skin with a topical anesthetic to aid in treatment comfort. The DeepFX laser is applied first, followed by the ActiveFX. Your total treatment time will last approximately 30 minutes, though total time will vary depending on the areas treated. During the procedure, you will feel a warm sensation as the laser is applied. Immediately following treatment, your skin will be warm, and will appear as though you were sunburned. We will provide you with a skin care regimen to follow for the days after your treatment and as your skin heals, you will begin to notice an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone and texture. You should expect to continue to see improvement for up to six months following the procedures.

  • To achieve dramatic results in only one treatment
  • To improve fine lines, wrinkles, scars, texture and pigmentation, all at once
  • A procedure that has minimal down time (three days to a week)

Recovery & Results

Immediately after the procedure the skin will be very hot for about 2-4 hours. The skin may ooze for about 24 to 48 in any areas that have been treated with the DeepFX. You should cover the treated area with an occlusive ointment like Auqaphor. You may notice mild to significant swelling. The more aggressive the treatment, the greater the swelling is likely to be. Most swelling starts to significantly improve by about day 3. During this time you can wash your face with a gentle rinse that we will recommend and/or one tbsp plain white vinegar to 1-2 cups cold water. The water/vinegar combination is weak ascetic acid and will act as an antibiotic and sooth the skin. Detailed post care instructions will be given to you after your procedure.

You may also notice some minor itching, if itching is more than mild and not controlled with Benadryl. If you have a history of cold sores you should be taking an antiviral such as Valtrex or Acyclovir. Some patients do get breakouts after a few days of having the occlusive ointment on their skin. Somewhere between day 5 and 7 you should be able to start back with mineral make-up and stop the topical ointment. After a week or so the Active FX areas will look pretty normal but you will likely be pink in the areas of the Deep FX for at least two or three more weeks.

If you have a history of a phenol peel or have used Accutane in the past 12 months, coumadin or other blood thinners, or have a recent tan, you should tell you practitioner and wait before having the procedure. This treatment is highly efficient in fair skin types but all skin types can be treated.
