Dr. Miller understands that choosing a plastic surgeon is one of the most important decisions that a person can make. He encourages all of his patients to educate themselves. The facelift procedure has undergone dramatic improvements in recent years that have resulted in the ability to provide excellent, long-lasting results with decreased healing time and improved safety.Who is a good candidate for a Liftfx
Patients who would like to look younger and struggle with the appearance of their jowls and their neck. Oftentimes patients complain that they feel like they have a turkey neck. There is no age that is too young or too old. Female and male patients can benefit from the procedure. Patients who are transitioning careers, developing new relationships, or simply would like to look younger with lasting results are great candidates.Philosophy on the Liftfx
After doing numerous facelifts of different types, I am convinced that a lower third facelift, often combined with a neck lift, is one of the most effective techniques available. In my opinion, the vast majority of patients seeking to look younger will benefit from a lower third lift. This type of lift addresses the most pervasive elements of the aging process in the face - jowling and platysmal banding (turkey neck). The lower third face lift entails suspending the muscle layer (SMAS) underneath the skin in order to reposition the jowls, eliminate the turkey neck, and provide a beautifully enhanced jaw line. In the process of doing this we eliminate excess skin which can soften wrinkles especially around the ear. We can also soften the lower portion of the nasolabial fold. The Liftfx is a traditional lower third facelift with a long history of proven results that last. This is not simply a skin lift or other quick fix type of procedure. The Technique
The Liftfx is a lower third facelift that is designed to address aging in the region of the jowls as well as the neck. We have been able to perfect this technique with the use of local anesthetic. Lidocaine, the same anesthetic used at the dentist, has provided excellent results with a very good safety record. We typically add a sedative such as Valium or Ativan to enhance patient comfort. The procedure takes about two hours and the recovery time is minimal. We have excellent patient follow-up with three scheduled post-operative appointments. Patients are welcome to come in any time if they have questions or concerns outside of their scheduled appointments. Each patient will be given comprehensive pre and post-operative instructions and will be given the opportunity to meet the staff, tour the facility, and ask questions.
Recovery
One of the advantages to the Liftfx is the limited recovery time. While many full face lifts or mid-face lifts may require up to 3 or 4 weeks of recovery time, the vast majority of Liftfx patients are able to return to work within a week of the procedure. The patient wears a dressing for the first three days following the procedure. Starting on the fourth day the patient wears the dressing only at night for the next ten days. We strongly encourage consistent follow-up with the Dr. in order to ensure that the healing process is going according to plan. Accordingly, the patient will return on post-operative day one, post-op day 7 to remove sutures, and post-op day 30. Comprehensive pre and post-operative instructions are given to ensure that the patient has all questions answered.
