What is Accent XL?

Accent XL is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation and tightening procedure which uses an innovative radiofrequency to treat two layers of skin at the same time, through a method called Dual-Layer Thermotherapy. The technique is used in treating sagging, aging skin, as well as cellulite, and offers results which are more noticeable than other procedures. By treating two layers of the skin, Accent XL improves the skin’s surface texture while advancing the production of the skin’s natural collagen, the material that gives youthful skin its firmness and elasticity.

A lot of our patients use it for preventative maintenance; they’ve found the Accent is very effective if you start using it before the skin gets too loose. But if your skin is already loose due to age, weight loss or pregnancies, we can help! We can tighten that skin!

What is radiofrequency (RF)?

Radiofrequency is an energy that causes heating by using radio waves. It is the heating that causes both the fat cells to disrupt and skin to tighten. Accent RF treatments can create dramatic change without the need for invasive surgery, needles, or even topical anesthetics.

What is the difference between Unipolar and Bipolar radiofrequency (RF)?

The BiPolar RF hand piece penetrates between 2 to 6 mm into tissue-reaching collagen. The Bipolar hand piece is used for skin tightening. Heating to these tissue depths therapeutically improves local circulation, promotes fibrous tissue breakdown, and helps manage areas subject to edema by promoting the re-absorption and drainage of retained fluids and toxins.

The Unipolar hand piece, allows much deeper penetration of RF, up to 20mm deep. The deeper RF field of the Unipolar causes tightening of the fibrous layer of tissue at the level between the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue, thus promoting reduction in cellulite symptoms. Controlled thermal injury may result in tissue shrinkage followed by an inflammatory response accompanied by the migration of fibroblasts, (a collagen builder) into the area. Thus causing skin tightening and giving the skin a smoother more refined appearance.

What areas does Accent RF treat?

Body treatments include cellulite, fat reduction, and skin tightening for legs, buttocks, hips, abdomen, love handles, arms, and other "problem" areas. Face treatments include skin tightening for necklines/jowls, cheek lines, forehead, and eyes.

Who is a candidate for Accent XL?

The Accent XL procedure is an excellent option for both men and women interested in firming up sagging, loose skin or reducing all degrees of cellulite buildup through a non-invasive procedure. It a great treatment for new moms with the post baby belly.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a dimpling effect caused by the way fat cells lie in or between connective tissue in the body, occurring primarily in the hips-thighs-buttocks region. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not caused by excess weight. It's all in the genes, which explains why even fit women can have it. Exercise and eating habits, while helpful, often have little effect on the appearance of cellulite. But now, thanks to technology like the Accent we can help manage the appearance of cellulite.

When will I see results after the Accent RF treatment?

Many patients see or feel immediate results such as tighter and smoother skin after a single treatment. However you’ll usually notice a more significant improvement after 3-6 Sessions. Skin tightening and body contouring continues for months after your treatments conclude. Your DermFx consultant will recommend the best course of treatments for you at your free consultation.

Does the Accent RF treatments eliminate these "problem" areas permanently?

Together with improved eating habits and exercise, one can experience better long-term results with most "problem" areas. Regarding cellulite, which is caused by one's genes, exercise and eating habits will have less effect on long-term results. Patients may require additional, future treatments to maintain desired results.

Yes! The system has built-in safety protocols to ensure safety and it is FDA approved

Is the Accent RF treatment painful?

No. The treatment is virtually painless. The only sensation the patient feels is mild heat. No needles or anesthesia are required. The laser's built-in thermo cooler minimizes heat sensation on contact. The skin may become slightly red after the immediate treatment; however, this disappears within an hour or so after treatment.

How long does each Accent RF treatment take?

The actual treatments will vary based on the amount of treatment areas. Most treatments take about 30-45 minutes.

How many sessions of the Accent are needed? The number of treatments each patient requires depends largely on the individual patient and their desired results, as well as the amount of cellulite being treated and the laxity of the skin. While marked results are visible after just one or two treatments, most patients will require 4 to 10 treatments to achieve the best results. Your DermFx consultant may also recommend a regular course of treatments to maintain your results for a longer period of time. How often are the Accent RF treatments given? It is recommended that the Accent RF treatments be given every other week to allow the body to process the chemical changes caused by the Accent RF treatments. What is the recovery time after treatment? Patients can return to work or other activities immediately after each session. There may be some slight redness in the treatment area immediately following treatment, which generally dissipates within an hour or two after the procedure. Who is not a candidate for Accent XL? You’ll need to advise your DermFx practitioner if you are diabetic, have a pacemaker, defibrillator or have had cancer. Is Accent RF covered by insurance plans? No. Accent RF is considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance.
